What I Stand For:

The Values Behind True North Bookkeeping LLC

Choosing a bookkeeper is a lot like choosing a doctor or a lawyer — it's one of those decisions where the credentials matter, but the trust matters more.

You're handing someone access to the most sensitive part of your business. Your income, your expenses, your financial history — all of it. That's not a small thing. And yet, many business owners choose a bookkeeper based on price or convenience alone, without ever really knowing what that person stands for or how they'll show up when things get complicated.

I started True North Bookkeeping LLC because I believe the bookkeeping industry can — and should — do better. Better communication. Stronger relationships. A deeper commitment to the people behind the businesses we serve. And because I wanted every client to know, from the very first conversation, exactly what they can expect from me.

So today, I'm pulling back the curtain. Here's our mission, and the five core values that guide everything we do.
Our Mission: Clarity as a Compass
At True North Bookkeeping LLC, our mission is to be the bookkeeping partner that small business owners can truly rely on — someone who knows their name, tells them the truth, and treats their financial life with care, precision, and complete confidentiality.

We exist to deliver clarity. Because when your books are clean and your financial picture is clear, you can lead your business with confidence.

That's the north star we navigate by — for every client, on every engagement, every single day.
Honesty, Always
I'll never tell you what you want to hear at the expense of what you need to know.

Here's something I've learned in this work: the most valuable thing I can give a client isn't a perfectly formatted report. It's the truth.

Sometimes the truth looks like flagging that expenses are creeping higher than they should. Sometimes it means pointing out a pattern that needs attention before it becomes a real problem. And sometimes it means having a hard conversation that neither of us planned on having that day.

I believe you hired me — and trusted me with your business — because you want clarity, not comfort. So my commitment is simple: I will always tell you what your numbers actually say, delivered honestly and with care, and always with your best interest at heart.

A clear picture today is worth far more than a comfortable one that unravels later.
Objectivity as a Practice
Your numbers shouldn't come with my opinions attached.

One of the most important things I can do as your bookkeeper is get out of the way. My job isn't to tell you what decisions to make — it's to give you the clearest possible picture so that you can make them yourself.

That means I keep my own preferences and assumptions out of your financial story. I present the facts as they are — without spin, without selective emphasis, and without shading the numbers toward any particular conclusion.

You are the expert on your business. I'm the expert on the numbers. When we each do our part, you have exactly what you need to move forward with confidence — on your terms, not mine.
Precision in Every Line
In bookkeeping, the details aren't a footnote. They are the work.

For most business owners, bookkeeping is something that happens quietly in the background — and that's exactly how it should feel on your end. But behind that calm exterior, someone is making careful decisions every single month: how to categorize a transaction, whether a discrepancy is a data entry error or something worth looking into, whether every account is reconciled exactly as it should be.

I treat every one of those decisions with the same level of care and attention. Not because it's required — but because I know your financial foundation is built line by line, and you deserve books that actually hold up.

I don't close the month because I'm done for the day. I close it because everything is right.
What's Yours, Stays Yours
Your financial life is personal. I treat it that way.

When you share your financial information with a bookkeeper, you're sharing something deeply private. Your revenue, your debts, your best months and your hardest ones — all of it comes through my desk. And all of it stays there.

Confidentiality isn't a legal box I check before we get started. It's a commitment I take seriously, and one I keep without needing to be reminded. Your information will never be shared, discussed, or referenced outside of the work we do together.

You're extending a significant amount of trust when you hand over your books. I don't take that lightly — not with a single client, not on a single day.
We Know Your Name
You are not a client number. You never will be.

This one is the heart of everything we do at True North Bookkeeping LLC.

I started this business because I believed small business owners deserved a bookkeeper who actually knew them — not just their account balance, but their goals, their challenges, and the reason they started building something in the first place. Someone who notices when something changes and reaches out. Someone who communicates in plain language, not industry jargon. Someone who treats you like a person, not a file.

That's the kind of bookkeeper I work hard to be every day. It shows up in how I communicate, how I ask questions, how I listen, and how I show up when you need me.

Because the numbers on your books represent something real — a business you've worked incredibly hard to build. That deserves more than a purely transactional relationship. It deserves a genuine partnership.
Finding Your True North
Every business deserves a financial partner they can trust completely. One who tells the truth, handles the details with care, keeps what's private private, and genuinely invests in their success.

That's what True North Bookkeeping LLC is built to be.

These five values — honesty, objectivity, precision, confidentiality, and a personal touch — aren't aspirations we're working toward. They're the standard we hold ourselves to on every engagement, with every client, every time.

If you've been looking for a bookkeeper who leads with integrity, communicates clearly, and treats your business like the priority it is, I'd love to connect and learn more about where you're headed.

Because clarity isn't just a nice-to-have. It's the compass that keeps your business moving in the right direction.
